uuhhh so I decided to do the @gabriel-monthly-challenge this May? Hey y’all

Prompt: Hiraeth – a Welsh word that is quite difficult to translate to English. Homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, or for a home which may never have been; an intense form of longing or nostalgia, wistfulness; the grief for the lost places of the past.

fucken got me inspired to draw this boi all sad because damn…he’s lost everything, all his families, his closest brothers, his home, even his damn life now….

Gabriel’s Past

A Written Prequel for our Favorite Archangel/Trickster

Ok, let’s do this! Let’s all come together and put together an amazing backstory for Gabriel.

I don’t know how I did it, but I’m rolling up on 2400 followers! And let me just say that I love and appreciate all of you! So, I’ve decided to put together a writing challenge for the milestone. An anthology of Gabriel’s past from his time in Heaven up to when the Winchesters dropped in on him in Crawford Hall (Tall Tales). 

If it’s possible, and you guys like the idea, I’d like to do this as a staggered release. The first person writes their chapter, and then the next person will start right up where the last one ended, and so on. Each chapter is influenced by the one that proceeded it. And this seems like a wonderful idea to fill in the time until October, and season 14 starts. 

There are no plots you have to follow, and no word limits. Angst or fluff, hurt/comfort? Write it! The only thing to remember is the setting. I think that 15 chapters is a good amount to aim for, and I have divided them around where Gabriel spent his time.

I spent the whole weekend trying to think of prompts for each chapter, but I think that it will be better when you guys plot it out as we go. I don’t want to limit where this story can go by telling you what to write. I also want to keep this semi canon compliant, so Sam and Dean can’t come in until the last chapter, but other angels and pagan demigods could. 

There will be a two week deadline for you to turn in your chapter so the next person can start working on the next chapter. 

No beta’s are required, and again, no word limit, but please use the “Keep Reading” feature if you go more than 500 words. I know it doesn’t always work, but, you know. We can try. 

If  more people sign up, I’ll extend the chapters. So send me a message or an ask for which chapter you want! 

When you finish with your chapter, tag me and #gabriels past writing challenge, and be sure to post with your chapter number so we can keep them in order. I’ll start a post with links to all the chapters, and hopefully we can reblog all the chapters together, one after the other.

So, just so everyone is clear, @revwinchester has the first chapter, and when she posts it when she has finished writing, the next chapter can be written by @ttttrickster. And so on and so on. I’ll be keeping an eye on the time limits and sending reminders to each author.

Remember, you have two weeks to write a chapter. I’ll make an extension if needed, though. Tag me and #gabriels past writing challenge when you complete your chapter.

Eden – Chapter 1: Golden

I’m deciding to post this one here too, since the chapters are shorter and I’m not putting it on fanfiction.net and some people may not be able to access Ao3 (but here’s the link). Tag lists will mostly remain consistent, but some things will change based on chapter content. Enjoy!

A quick twist of his
keychain killed the engine, but Sam didn’t get out of his car. The check in his
pocket, just a single slip of folded paper, felt heavy. With any amount of good
luck, John wouldn’t find out what it was being used for. With Sam’s luck…
He combed his fingers through his hair and climbed out of the driver’s seat. He
was already here. Going back would be stupid. He approached the front door,
wiping his hands on his jeans, and swallowed down the knot of apprehension in
his throat as he rang the bell.

“Be right there!” Heavy
footsteps followed the shout and a minute later, the door swung open, revealing
a dark-haired woman, who immediately smiled and held out her hand. “You must be
Mr. Winchester.”

“Ah, just…Sam, please.” He
shook her hand, trying his best to return the smile.

“Sam. Right. I’m Lenore.
Come on in…” She stepped aside, allowing Sam through the door. “You read what
we put in the listing, right?”

Sam nodded, the words
scrolling through his brain. Adult male. Genetically unique; gold feathers.
Breeding stock. Housetrained. Unmated. Unclipped wings. Full comprehension of
English language. Pedigree provided upon purchase. Reason for sale:
refusal to breed.

“Good, then you already
know the basics…” She started up the stairs, motioning for Sam to follow. “He’s
up here…didn’t want to come out of his room today…”

Sam frowned. “Is
he…okay? Healthy?”

Her steps faltered and she
sighed. “I’m going to be honest with you…he’s not. I don’t want to give up on
him, but the longer we keep him, the worse he gets. We obviously didn’t want to
put any of this in the listing, no one would…” She trailed off, stopping in
front of a door. “I think it’s stress. He’s a good stud—or…was, I guess—but
we had him on a heavy schedule before he stopped performing and that was…over
a month ago, now? Since then…well.” She opened the door. “See for yourself.”
