Not gunna lie, I’m a little disappointed in the explanation of how Gabriel is alive, but at the same time, I’m happy that it’s not the angel blade theory.

ok guys..i haven’t seen this point mentioned in any of the meta or spec so far, but as much as i would love sabriel to become canon, Sam’s ‘i need you’ ain’t that. Gabriel has been locked up in a cage and abused for years, so was Sam and even though they are both now free, they are both still in that cage in their heads. Sam says as much to Rowena in ‘various and sundry villains’, Sam needs Gabriel to come back, so he knows there is a chance HE can finally get out of the cage..and that my darlings is Sam’s character arc this season-he needs to deal and heal, just like Gabriel.
