SPOILERS FOR 12×8, LOTUS

“LOTUS” wasn’t a favorite episode of mine, but I did like it for one fact: it confirmed a headcanon of mine.

That the nephilim who Cas and Metatron killed, was Metatron’s child, not Gabriel’s.

As a huge Gabriel fan, I’ve always “known” that there was no way Gabriel would create a nephilim. He was in witness protection. It would have blown his cover as a pagan god, alerted the angels that he was there, and he’s not stupid enough to allow it to happen by accident.

Last night’s episode confirmed my theory twofold.

In “Clip Show”, where Metatron reveals he know where there’s a nephilim they can use for the spell. Castiel did not know Jane existed.

In “Lotus”, when the unborn nephilim was conceived, there was a surge over Angel Radio, resulting in all the angels knowing. Castiel reveals this is because of the conception of an archangelic nephilim. (Archangels being stronger than regular angels)

Following this now canon fact, if Jane belonged to Gabriel, an archangel, all of the angels would know of her existence, including Castiel.

But Cas didn’t know. Only Metatron did.

It makes even more sense if you realize that Metatron probably created Jane for the spell.
He was in for a long con. He’d transcribed the spell, he knew what was needed and he was bitter. He created Jane with the intention of using her in the future, that’s why he knew where she was.

In Conclusion, since there were only two angels on Earth when Jane was conceived (Gabriel and Metatron), and Gabriel isn’t her father, that only leaves one option: Metatron fathered Jane.
